The Croatian mezzo-soprano Diana Haller has been highly acclaimed both by public and press for various role-debuts during the past seasons. Her vocal high-class as well as her acting skills have been equally focused in her portrays of e.g. 'Composer' /"Ariadne auf Naxos" (Cornelius Meister), title role/"Tancredi" (Antonio Fogliani), 'Holofernes'/ "Judith Triumphans", 'Hänsel' /"Hänsel and Gretel" (Georg Fritzsch).
Diana Haller started her career as a member of the opera studio at the State Opera Stuttgart and became subsequently the youngest member of the soloist ensemble with roles such as 'Cherubino' /"Le nozze di Figaro", 'Ruggiero' /"Alcina", 'Orlofsky' /"Die Fledermaus", 'Rosina' /"Il barbiere di Siviglia", 'Angelina' /"La Cenerentola"‚ 'Dorabella' /"Cosi fan tutte", 'Adalgisa' /"Norma" and the title role in "Ariodante". Recent guest engagements include e.g. 'Altichiara' /"Francesca da Rimini" (Fabio Luisi; David Pountney) at La Scala di Milano, various recitals, a new production of "Norma" in Rijeka, 'Ruggiero' /"Alcina" at the Opera Cologne and the Semperoper Dresden, 'Rosina' at the National Opera Zagreb and at the Opera Graz. In 2014 she covered 'Rosina' as well as the title role in "La Cenerentola" at the Metropolitan Opera New York. In the same summer she made her debut at the Salzburg Festival as 'Ines' /"Il Trovatore" alongside Anna Netrebko and Placido Domingo, sang there 'Cenerentola' in a children’s production and jumped in for the recital of Elina Garanca with songs by Hugo-Wolf. She made her debut as 'Dido' /"Dido and Aeneas" in Osor/Croatia and was 'Cenerentola' at the Munich Gärtnerplatz Theater. Later on, she made her debuts as 'Giulio Cesare' /"Giulio Cesare in Egitto" in Croatia and Slovenia, as 'Enrichetta' /"I Puritani" at the Zurich Opera. In 2011 she performed the title role in Hasses "Siroe, Re di Persia" at the Händel London Festival, at the Rossini Wildbad Festival she sang the role of 'Alberto' in Balducci’s "Il noce di Benevento", for which she was given the prestigious 'International Belcanto Award'. In October 2012 Diana won the first prize at the 8th International Song Competition of Hugo Wolf' in Stuttgart. In October 2013, she was awarded 'Young Singer of the year 2013' – by the German magazine "Opernwelt", and the prize 'Ivo Vuljevic 2013' for outstanding musical achievement as well as the prize from the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra 'Best young musician of the year 2013'. |
She toured twice with Philippe Herreweghe performing Mozart’s "Great c-minor Mass" and Mozart’s "Requiem" in Italy, France and Scotland. Further concert activities included Dvorak’s "Requiem" in Cologne, Mozart’s "Requiem" at the Dubrovnik Festival, Rossini’s "Stabat Mater" in Cologne, Dortmund and Stuttgart; a tour with the NDR Orchestra in Hannover, Hamburg and Frankfurt, Mahler’s "Lied von der Erde" at the Heidelberger Frühling Festival and in Stuttgart, Händel’s "Dixit Dominus" with the Croatian Radio Orchestra in Zagreb, a Rossini Gala with the Zagreb Philharmonia Orchestra, Bernstein and Mahler in Ulm, Rossini’s "Petite Messe Solennelle" at the Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Mozart’s "Great c-minor Mass" in Ljubljana and in Leipzig’s Gewandhaus and Magdeburg with the MDR Orchestra, a Soloistic Gala with the orchestra at the Dubrovnik Festival, an Opera Gala with the Württembergische Philharmonie in Reutlingen, Rossini’s "Stabat mater" with the Ljubljana Philharmonia, a concert with the Orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin, "Weihnachtsoratorium" in Eberbach, among others. Active as a recitalist, she gave song recitals in Germany, Croatia, Italy, Mexico and Austria.
She recorded a Bach/Händel CD with Concerto Köln and the Bayerische Rundfunk in 2012, the Croation National Radio recorded her first CD album with Robert Schumann and Hugo Wolf songs, with Naxos she recorded both 'Siebel' /"Faust" with the Croatian National Theater in Rijeka and 'Enrichetta' /"I Puritani" at the State Opera Stuttgart. In 2019 Audax Records released her Cd with the Ensemble Diderot of works by A. Vivaldi, S. M. Gajarek and J. A. Hasse. Future projects include a new production of "Anna Bolena"/ 'Giovanna' at the Croational National Theater in Rijeka, an european tour with Jordi Savall, a debut as Fricka in Wagners Rheingold at the Stuttgart Opera, and a debut as Eboli in the french version of Verdis Don Carlos. |
Diana Haller started her voice studies with Prof. Margareta Togunjac in her home-town Rijeka and continued her academic studies at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica 'Giuseppe Tartini' in Trieste (Italy) in the class of Prof. Gloria Salchi. She finished her Bachelor Studies achieving the highest mark and praise under the leadership of Prof. Cinzia de Mol and graduated one year later at the Royal Academy of Music in London with distinction (DipRAM). Diana continued her postgraduate studies at the University of Music in Stuttgart in the Solistenklasse Opernschule and Master Liedklasse with Prof. Dunja Vejzovic. Since graduation she has continued to study privately with Prof. Brigitte Fassbaender and Prof. Michelle Breedt.

Followed by the great success of Pimpinone, she worked further in Weißenhorn and staged in 2015 Bellinis Norma and in 2018 and Bellinis I Capuleti e i Montecchi, which was revived with great demand in 2023. In the season 2023/24 she will stage a new production of Donizettis Anna Bolena at the Croatian National Theater in Rijeka and a new production of Glucks Orfeo ed Euridice at the Kammeroper Weißenhorn.
